CLINICAL ACP TRIALS
Acupuncture guidelines are a checklist now used by journal editors and authors. This should help peer reviewers and journal editors in deliberating the merits of the acupuncture trials presented for publication..

Authors of acupuncture clinical trials have proven acupuncture works and have demonstrated its power and presence.
The consolidated standard of reporting trials ( CONSORT) has been revised since first published in 2001. In the revision, has added an extension for acupuncture. Worldwide experts from 63 exquisite international references have supported this addition after surveying 90 acupuncture trials. Authors of acupuncture clinical trials, by executing these reporting standards, will now have to provide their acupuncture rationale, the details of needling, the treatment regimen, other components of treatment, the acupuncturist background, and the control of interventions. These standards for reporting interventions in clinical trials (STRICTA) will raise the quality of reporting clinical trials of acupuncture. Authors will have to produce more scientific depth in their articles. The new STRICTA requirements cover 21 pages.

All of this will improve the reporting of acupuncture trials especially the interventions and make it easier for their interpretation and replication by others. it’s now up to the authors to plan their clinical acupuncture trials appropriately as they prepare their manuscripts. It’s now obvious that acupuncturists must now get to business of proving to Western medicine the scientific depth of acupuncture.
